The Law and You
The staff of okcjustbusted.com wanted to provide our visitors with helpful information about behavioral suggestions during legal interaction with law enforcement officials. These are merely suggestions to be used as a guideline seeking a positive outcome with police contact. Always seek professional legal advise and guidance if the time permits.
The Cardinal Rule
The easiest way to avoid police contact is to stay out of trouble. If you hang out with the wrong crowd, you increase your chances of being approached by officers in pursuit of those suspected of, or associated with, criminal activities. If confronted by a law enforcement agent, approach the situation as you would a friend who made a mistake, and not an enemy who intended to cause you harm.
REMEMBER…
The first words spoken by either the involved officer(s) or the involved citizen(s) may very well determine the tone of the encounter and possibly the outcome of the contact.
The Mindset and Communication Breakdown
Law enforcement is both a difficult and dangerous profession. Many officers are killed each year and thousands more are injured in the performance of their duties. Police officers are trained to place a great deal of emphasis on their safety and survival. In some instances the safety procedures used by officers have the appearance of offensive posture or aggressive/unnecessary behavior by the average citizen. However, police officers know that even the most routine stop for a traffic violation has the potential for danger.
